More than 100,000 Persepolis fans cheered the reds despite the fact that their team had lost the title triumph up to the last seconds.
Persepolis beat Sepahan 2-1 and deservedly won the IPL’s championship for the second time.
Mohsen Khalili scored an excellent goal in the 17th minute. His shot from the edge of the penalty area ended up into Sepahan’s goal. It was his 18th season’s goal.

Khalili was on the verge of scoring for the second time but his shot hit the crossbar.
Persepolis conceded a goal in the 30th minute. Ehsan Hajsafi ran into the empty space and opened Mehdi Vaezi’s net.
Afterward, Sepahan were trying to play defensive catanacio and staved off Persepolis strikes.
The hosts played nervously in the last minutes and crossed so many balls into the Sepahan’s box but the yellows rebuffed them each times.
Sepahan had some chances through counter attacks but could not double the score.
Referee Saeid Mozafarizadeh devoted a lengthy seven minutes added times to the match and Persepolis hopes boosted to score the decider goal. The reds eventually scored the wining goal when captain Karim Bagheri crossed the ball into six-yard and defender Sepehr Heidari’s header past Sepahan’s keeper.

Persepolis secured the 7th IPL championship and registered its name as the sole team who has won the title twice.
Persepolis clinched the championship with one point clear of Sepahan. The team tops the table with 59 points, followed by Sepahan and Saba Battery with 58 and 52 points.
Sirin Faraz of Kermanshah and San’at Naft of Abadan also dropped to the first division.
